The Mounds have eyes.

The world is an irrational place.

This project began when I first saw the termite mounds based along the Stuart highway in Central Australia. An investigation into the strange ritual of dressing up termite mounds in clothes and other paraphernalia by passer by's intrigued my curiosity.

I have responded to this absurd ritual by exaggerating and mimicking some of the termite mounds I came across whilst traveling along the Stuart Highway, but although at times funny to look at, real issues around cultural and cross cultural tensions are in the forefront of my mind.

I can't help but think about topics such as:

  • Gentrified
  • Gendered
  • Personified
  • Stigmatised
  • Vandalised
